About Us

The Queen of Swords (Kathy Hassinger)

The Queen of Swords (Kathy Hassinger)

The best description of The Queen of Swords came from her friend of more than 20 years, after explaining their high school exploits to the guy she eventually married. He asked if Kathy had done a lot of drugs in high school, to which Tara replied, "No, that would have been redundant." 'Nuff said.

Oh? You want more information? Well, the Queen is the product of a WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant) upbringing in the American Midwest, but still managed to turn out ok. Other than this comic, The Queen writes Magical Boys, which is drawn by Gigi and lives on a website designed by Joe. The Queen is also lettering "Silence", a web comic Gigi draws for Dust Traveller, who wrote the "Slayers" fanfic "Shards of Chaos", which is hosted on Amethyst Angel's site. Amethyst Angel draws Elder Star and the title art for "Shards of Chaos". The Queen occasionally writes articles and reviews for Joe's webzine Anime Digital and also sometimes acts as his Editor. Yessiree, the Queen is more connected than Kevin Bacon. It's Six Degrees of The Queen of Swords.

Amethyst Angel

Amethyst Angel

Amethyst Angel, when she's not slaving over a hot sketchbook, spends her time typesetting and laying out memorial bronzes at a major granite company. Not by choice, mind you, but she must find some way of paying the bills until the glorious day when she finally writes the Great American Manga and becomes rich beyond her wildest dreams. (Or at least, financially independent.) Her past work includes the chapter illustrations for the Slayersfic, "Shards of Chaos" and various webcomics, including Mr. T vs. the Slayers, Mr. T vs. Escaflowne, and, what might be the most bizarre idea for a fancomic ever conceived, (yes, even more bizarre than "Mr. T vs ..." ) The Slayers Players present: Hamlet the Manga. Elder Star represents AA's first comic-related work dealing with an original story (written by the Queen of Swords) and original characters (designed and drawn by herself) and she hopes, should it prove successful, that said success will help to propel her towards her ultimate goal of becoming the American Yuu Watase. (Although she isn't holding her breath. Yet.)

Joe Curzon

Joe wrote the code for the page you are reading now. He has also written some other webpages, a little FAQ, and some stuff that got printed on a dead tree.

The Queen says...

Well, that's British modesty for ya! To elaborate, Joe is the founder and Webmaster of Anime Digital. His Pirate Anime FAQ is an invaluable guide to what are legitimate anime and manga goods, and what aren't, and has been reprinted in programs for various anime conventions. Joe also writes a column about anime-related websites for the offline magazine Anime Invasion, published quarterly by Wizard Entertainment. Joe also designed the website for the Queen's and Gigi's webmanga Magical Boys, and is webmaster for Fluffy Bunnies Studios, which hosts Elder Star. Joe is our group's resident L33t M4st3r, called upon to squeeze our little projects into his incredibly tight schedule. Hopefully, he'll have more time on his hands and a less stressful life once he graduates from University.
